63-year-old male. CT Runoff Angiography was performed with SUREExposure and SUREkV, automatic mA modulation and kV selection. Multiplanar Reconstructions (MPR) and 3D Volume Rendered images demonstrate bilateral iliac-femoral artery occlusion; right axillary femoral bypass graft and a left aortofemoral bypass graft with restored blood flow to both femoral arteries. Severe diffuse atherosclerotic disease and aortic aneurism pre-bifurcation is also demonstrated. Blood flow is seen bilaterally in the extremities.
With a design also focusing on smaller installation space and power consumption, Aquilion Lightning™ requires a minimal footprint.
Innovative solutions unique to Canon Medical Systems to solve clinical challenges. Simplified workflow with consistent quality results.
In CTA examinations SURESubtraction has the ability to remove bone, calcium and stents from data sets allowing clinicians an unobstructed view of the arteries.
Moreover, SURESubtraction can create iodine maps to enable the assessment of the distribution of contrast media within the body to visualize local perfusion.
SURESubtraction has protocol integrated automation at every step to empower even a novice operator with the skills to perform brilliantly the first time — every time.
Prior to subtraction, Canon Medical Systems' deformable registration allows pixel matching between the pre-contrast and contrast enhanced data for precise digital subtraction and iodine mapping, saving time and improving diagnostic accuracy.
Canon Medical Systems' SEMAR (Single Energy Metal Artifact Reduction) utilizes a sophisticated iterative reconstruction technique to reduce metallic artifact, improving visualization of implants, supporting bone and the adjacent soft tissues for a clearer and more confident diagnosis. SEMAR can be set in the scan protocol so the reconstructions are fully automatic requiring no additional operator input.
Aquilion Lightning™ is designed to handle even the busiest workloads with ease. The system’s intuitive user interface guides you step by step through the examination with modern and easy-to-understand graphics and animations. A host of intelligent functions enable a fast and efficient workflow.
A newly developed reconstruction system supports a reconstruction speed of up to 15 images per second, assisting with rapid review and fast patient throughput.
MultiView automation saves time by reconstructing MPR images as a part of the exam protocol, reducing the number of images for initial review and/or printing.
x,y,z Modulation integrated optimized workflow to minimize dose. SUREExposure 3D automatically optimizes tube current to acquire the highest quality clinical images possible, with optimal patient exposure.
A non-contrast CT scan of the head was performed for sinus evaluation. The multiplanar reconstructions and 3D Volume Rendered images demonstrate bilateral maxillary sinus opacification.
81-year-old male, a SURESubtraction Carotid CTA was performed with SUREExposure, mA modulation and AIDR 3D, Adaptive Iterative Dose Reduction. Maximum Intensity Projection (MIP) and 3D volume rendered images demonstrate small calcifications in the right carotid artery.

Multiplanar Reconstructions (MPR) and 3D Volume Rendered images demonstrate bilateral iliac-femoral artery occlusion; right axillary femoral bypass graft and a left aortofemoral bypass graft with restored blood flow to both femoral arteries. A Lung CT was performed on a 70-year-old male SUREExposure, mA modulation and AIDR 3D Enhanced, Adaptive Iterative Dose Reduction are integrated into the protocol and automatically applied to the scan. AIDR 3D Enhanced reduces image noise while preserving diagnostic information leading to possible dose reduction. This case was acquired with a CTDI of 1.3mGy. Multiplanar Reconstruction (MPR) images demonstrate pulmonary fibrosis bilaterally in the upper lobes and bilateral pulmonary emphysema.
19-year-old male reported severe pain after falling on his wrist. A CT scan of the wrist was performed. 3D Volume Rendered images, Multiplanar Reconstructions (MPR) and fused images demonstrate a scaphoid fracture.
70-year-old female, status post unilateral hip replacement surgery. A helical pelvic CT scan was performed with SEMAR (Single Energy Metal Artifact Reduction). Multiplanar Reconstruction (MPR) and 3D Volume Rendered demonstrate images with reduced metal artifact, allowing physicians to evaluate the regional osseous, soft tissue structures as well as the prosthesis positioning. Long cortical obliteration at the level of the proximal prosthesis shaft is seen. Fragmentation of the acetabulum and the dorsal pillar. Extended lytic changes in the acetabulum is also seen.
